UConn Health Center Guest Speaker

American Medical Mission in Gaza

The medical students from the UCONN Health Center are hosting an event next Wednesday, January 13 at the UConn Health Center. A Muslim doctor from New York who served in Gaza last winter is going to be speaking about her experience. I hope you join me in attending this event as we learn more about the situation and what our brothers and sisters in Gaza are experiencing. See below and the attachment for details.

Wednesday, January 13

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Patterson Auditorium
UConn Health Center
Farmington, CT

_______________________________

Presenter:

Dr. Kanwal S. Chaudhry, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Kings County Hospital Center, State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Chaudhry is double board certified in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine, so brings both perspectives to her work as part of the Islamic Medical Society of North America team to provide medical care in Gaza. The team worked out of Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest and best hospital in Gaza. The team provided medical procedures, surgeries, health check ups and treatment in the absence of proper medical supplies, equipment and support.

Dr. Chaudhry will share her experiences working in the ER and providing medical and pediatric services. She will also discuss the conditions in Gaza and lead a discussion about how physicians can help in conflict and disaster situations.
