This lecture will survey past events that contributed to the making of the history of Jerusalem; the theologies that make it a Holy City for Judaism, Christianity and Islam; and the Israeli Palestinian national narratives that make it a contested capital. Israeli policies regarding Jerusalem since 1967 and possible scenarios for the future of this city will be discussed.
Yehezkel Landau, Faculty Associate in Interfaith Relations at Hartford Seminary, will offer a response from a Jewish perspective.
