Professor Tariq Ramadan of Oxford University will be joining Yale for a special public lecture open to the Yale community about Islamic revival movements today. With the recent democratization and revolutions in the Middle East, the Muslim world is in the midst of a broader dialogue about what it means to reform Islam.
Tariq Ramadan is a professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University, as well as a visiting professor in many universities around the world. He has contributed substantially to the debate on the issues of Muslims in the West and Islamic revival in the Muslim world. He recently authored a book called Radical Reform: Islamic Ethics and Liberation.
